Alkoomi, Cabernets 2011

This tastes and smells like a $30+ red wine. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, petit verdot, malbec and merlot (the classic Bordeaux grape varieties) from the Frankland River region of Western Australia, it comes from a winery very much on the up. Around 20% of the blend has been matured in new French oak and the end result is a wine full of interest with black and red fruit notes, oak giving structural support and lovely softness on the mouth. Surprisingly elegant and well balanced; extremely impressive given the price tag.   Current Rel
